UNITED WAY KID FITNESS PARTNERSHIP
Childhood obesity is an issue that should concern everyone. It affects the health of our children, so it affects the future of our community. Children need to be healthy and make smart lifestyle choices so they can stay in shape, perform better academically, and become healthy, productive adults. That's why United Way has partnered with the Kid Fitness Television Partnership and Hamilton County Department of Education to distribute free Kid Fitness Fun Fitness Break kits to teachers in hundreds of kindergarten and elementary classrooms in Chattanooga.
These innovative kits help teachers increase their students’ activity levels during school and to teach them about healthy lifestyle choices. The kids mimic the movement of animals and learn to have fun while exercising. The great part is, it's working. Pre-school teachers who received the Kid Fitness kits report an average increase in classroom physical activity by 14 minutes per day!
